PARADE

GC Notes:

GC to update day-of-game.

Presentation:

The team will receive an image (QRCode + text of link) from SpiderDoge.

This will take them to a YouTube playlist from Little Orchestra in the Woods called Auditions , that contains 7 videos (Introduction, and Audition 1 - Audition 6). The text/narration in the intro video is:

The little orchestra in the woods recently held auditions to add some new talent to their sound. Beyond demonstrating their musical skills, each participant was asked to provide a video of an additional skill they have. Unfortunately, the auditions may need to be done again since somehow each musician included the name of the next character in their recording. By putting the tapes in order, you should be able to find where these musicians are planning their next performance.

Walkthrough:

The videos in playlist order are:

Audition #CharacterEncodingNextLetterDescription
1BirdMorse CodePeterE

Voice/Subtitles: Watch this dashing young bird perform more stunts than you could possibly imagine.

PETER

A blue bird flies in a circle, flapping its wings at various times (always once or thrice). When it does a single flap, that is a dot. When it does 3 flaps, it is dash. Whenever it completes a circle, it moves to the next letter. In order the bird does the following flap patterns:

  • 1, 3, 3, 1

  • 1

  • 3

  • 1

  • 1, 3, 1

While the blue bird is partially through the third loop (E or 3 flaps), a yellow bird flies across the screen and does a single flap. This is to indicate the 'E' letter extraction.

2CatBrailleWolfR

Voice/Subtitles: I'm a blind cat, but people tell me my footprints show them things.

A bunch of footprints in mud that spell out WOLF (⠺ ⠕ ⠇ ⠋) in Braille, with the overall placement of the footprints representing an 'R' (⠗)

The quacking 2, 9, 18, and 4 times between sentences indicates B, I, R, D. (4 separate quacking sessions or 4 other ducks at the pond = 'D')

4GrandpaDancing ManCatA

Voice/Subtitles: I may be an old man, but I can still dance.

5PeterNaval FlagsGrandpaP

Voice/Subtitles: Hi, I'm Peter. Check out these flags I made last week for my treehouse.

There is a ribbon of flags across the front of the treehouse that spell "GRANDPA"

The flag under treehouse floor is a P

6WolfTracingDuckA

Voice/Subtitles: Howl do you do? I am an excellent tracker of my prey. Watch and observe how I catch this deer.

The wolf walks in the path of "DUCK", one letter at a time with each letter interrupted by a deer moving one or two strokes of tracing out 'A'.

Note: Some teams may think the deer movements are semaphore, but would then be confused by the later multi-path actions near the end of the video

By linking each of these in order, (arbitrarily starting with Peter) they should form a chain/loop:

VideoPeter->Grandpa->Cat->Wolf->Duck->Bird->
LetterPARADE

Hinting:

  • Don't use the names of the characters unless the teams use them first, since the names are data in the puzzle.

  • Re-watch the Intro video.

  • Make sure they've watched all the videos.

  • Staff use data above for confirmation or other hinting about how the puzzle works
