How It Works

Walkthrough:

At its core, this is a substitution cipher. The key should be clued off the text in the message, "precious metals and jewels". The colors go as follows:

Blue: Sapphire

Red: Garnet

Green: Emerald

Clear: Diamond

Silver: Silver

Gold: Gold

Copper: Copper

Each color has pieces in the shapes that represent its name.

One possible solution path:

* Notice that copper and sapphire have two Ps, identify P
* Notice that Diamond has 2 Ds (and that that shape is shared with emerald and gold), identify D
* Notice that G is in Gold and Garnet and nothing else, identify G
* Notice that O is shared between Diamond, Gold, and Copper, identify O
* Notice that L is only letter remaining in Gold, identify L
* Notice that E appears twice in Emerald (and also appears in everything remaining but diamond), identify E
* Notice that A is in sapphire, garnet, diamond, and emerald, identify A
