Lego Candy Solution

How It Works

Solution

The sheets of paper are guides to how to assemble the candy. Numbers in brackets represent space, letter/number pairs represent a piece of candy. Letters indicate the color, numbers indicate the size of the candy (2xn). Assembling each set reveals an animal. The 2x3 blocks with posts removed are braille letters. Reading each animal from left to right reveals a descriptive word:

CORAL

The words and shapes put together reveal 5 animal phrases:

  • church mouse
  • jack rabbit
  • rocking horse
  • white elephant
  • coral snake

Teams use the first number on each guide sheet to index into the animal names, and place them in 7 blanks, indexed by the second number(s):

  • church mouse

  • jack rabbit

  • rocking horse

  • white elephant

  • coral snake

  • m = 2

  • r = 5,7

  • o = 6

  • p = 3

  • e = 1,4

EMPEROR

The word "penguin" on the cover of each tin combines with this word to give the answer, emperor penguin.

GC Notes

It's somewhat distrubing how easy it is to get interns to jump into a sketchy van with a sketchy driver holding a sign that says "Free Candy".

The original Sketchy Van failed to start on the weekend of, so GC was forced to rent a Van from Arrow. We specifically asked for the most beat up Van they had. Once on sight, sketchy van v2.0 worked great for the plot interaction...but failed to start once we needed to get headed home. Note for future GC's: Sketchy anything should be backed up with proven reliable's.
