Teams found a sign telling them to call for Chinese delivery. Calling that number had the delivery guy drop off a takeout box with a few menus stapled to it, (folded as a booklet, with "Sketchy Garden Chinese Restaurant" on the first page and "Combo Special" on the last page) and five fortune cookies inside. The fortunes in the cookies read:

Doom awaits you at Ford's TheaterLucky numbers: 10 23 14 16 17 2 19
This day is one that will live in infamyLucky numbers: 5 12 4 9 24 27 1
Your journey's return will be ruined by a piece of foam.Lucky numbers: 23 14 24 40
An iceberg looms in your immediate future.Lucky numbers: 20 15 4 5
The new year will destroy the world's computers.Lucky numbers: 17 26 35 34

The cookies were all homemade 1 week before the competition. Here is the recipe that was used:

Ingredients:

3 egg whites
3/4 cup white sugar
1/2 cup butter, melted and cooled
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 tablespoons water
Note: do not increase the batch size as batter will start to set if not used quickly enough.

Directions:

  1. Have fortunes ready to go on small strips of paper and folded.
  2. Preheat the oven to 375F. Grease cookie sheets, or line with parchment paper. Do no over grease, greasing is not strictly required here and no grease was used for the interns' batches.
  3. In a large glass or metal bowl, whip egg whites and sugar on high speed of an electric mixer until frothy, about 2 minutes. Reduce speed to low, and stir in melted butter, vanilla, almond extract, water and flour one at a time, mixing well after each. Consistency should resemble pancake batter. Spoon the batter into 3 inch circles on the prepared baking sheets. Leave room between for spreading and do not put more than 5 cookies per sheet, any more and they will take to long for one person to fold before they cool.
  4. Bake for at least 5 - 7 minutes in the preheated oven, or until the edges begin to brown slightly. If you end up opening the oven door to place more batches in the time required can climb to 12 - 15 minutes. Quickly remove one at a time, place a message in the center, and fold in half. Using the edges of a muffin tin, to press the cookies onto, fold the corners of the cookie together in a horse shoe shape. Once folded, place in muffin tin to cool until set.
If cookies are greatly undercooked, they will feel like cake out of the oven and will not hold their shape. If cookies are slightly undercooked, they will remain chewy and not crispy. If cookies are over cooked, they might be burnt, not be able to be folded or they might not come off of the cookie sheet.

Makes about 20-25 cookies.
