Nickelbackin' CD Solution

How It Works

Careful observation of the letters on the cover will reveal the following words: YOU NEED A SUBSTITUTION CIPHER KEY. Teams must play the tracks, observe they are all pieces of one song, and reorder them to find the original order:

TrackSong Piece
------
16
23
34
417
57
613
722
88
923
101
1118
1225
1312
1411
1526
162
1719
1821
1915
2010
2124
2216
235
249
2520
2614

Using the cipher key to decode the text gives the following:

US
ER
SS
DE
TL
OD

The top line use last two lines backward only hints that the last two lines should be read in reverse:

Slang name for a football based on how they were originally built

the answer being Pigskin.

Solution

PIGSKIN

Design Notes

The basic idea behind this puzzle was that certain members of Game Control despise songs written by Nickelback. This puzzle was designed to torture that person, and, later, teams in general.

GC Notes

When a GC actor stated that he was going insane, a team replied: "Is that because you've been listening to Nickelback all morning, too?"
